Increasing Your Fertility Level Is Easy If You Know How

According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, there are some 6.1 million people troubled by infertility issues. Within this number, there is a same amount of percentage of infertility issues affected both men and women, which is 40% respectively. 20% of the 6.1 million people are related to unknown causes to infertility.

There are many causes of women infertility. Doctors from around the world are trying to find out how these specific causes are causing infertility. They are ovarian and ovulation problems, tube or peritoneal causes, hypothalamic-pituitary causes, cervical, vaginal and uterine problems and factors that are preventing women from conceiving.

How internal causes are affecting us?

Women suffering from diabetes, thyroid or any other defects of the livers and kidneys are factors that are causing infertility to many modern women. Besides that, women should take note on the psychological or mental issues that are causing infertility to them. Another cause of infertility is women having ovulation disorder, it is either they are not ovaluating at all, or they may ovulate irregularly compared to the normal ovulation during the 28-day cycle.

Another ovarian causes like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ovarian neoplasm, diminished ovarian reserve, luteal dysfunction, premature menopauses and Turner syndrome are causing infertility to most women. It simply prevents the release of a mature egg from the ovaries, or having hormonal imbalances, or the reproduction of eggs with chromosomal defects. There are also tube or peritoneal factors that are causing the infertility to many females. It is the uterine lining (the endometrial tissue) growing outside the uterus or it is unprepared for egg implantation, blockage of the fallopian tubes which prevents an egg from traveling to the uterus.

Hypothalamic-pituitary factors, that include the common hypopituitarism, hyperprolactinemia, kallmann syndrome and other hypothalamic dysfunctions are the common causes of women infertility.

Problems from the cervical, vaginal and uterine could be one of the cause of infertility.

The problem from the vaginal would include the obstruction preventing sperms from traveling to the tubes and vaginismus. Whereas, the cervical problems would include the side effects of anti-sperm antibodies, insufficient cervical mucus which is needed for the sperm to travel and survive. Another reason for infertility which may be genetic, would be androgen insensitivity syndrome, fibroids, and various other conditions.

Are you taking note of external causes?

Since we are now more aware of the internal causes of infertility, it is now to discuss what are the external causes of infertility. Using too much cosmetic products which contain chemicals, taking in alcohol, food preservatives and additives such as monosodium glutamate (MSG), spraying pesticides, using other anti-conceiving human hormones, coffee, cigarette or tobacco smoke, and many more.

How Laser Stretch Mark Removal Works

July 19th, 2008 · No Comments

pregnancybyline’>by Maia Pells

The more advanced way of removing stretch marks is by laser stretch mark removal. Although it uses technology that is quite sophisticated, the cost and pain associated with this treatment has significantly lowered in recent years. This type of procedure is still not considered cheap; however, laser removal is still less expensive than plastic surgery and causes fewer risks.

Problem

The skin condition is generally caused by the rapid expansion of skin due to weight gain or pregnancy. Stretch marks form when the dermis, the middle layer of the skin, is stretched to its limit. The connective fibers will then break, resulting to the disruption of collagen production and scarring.

These marks appear as purplish or pinkish threads that develop on thighs, belly, thighs, upper arms, and hips. Stretch marks are not known to be health hazards and are only seen as a cosmetic problem for most people. That is why many people are looking for an effective treatment to remove stretch marks.

Procedure

These are generally known as scars. Fortunately, these can be removed by laser stretch mark removal. This procedure involves the use of a beam of light to remove thin layers of skin around the stretch marks. Laser technology uses high energy ultraviolet light to disrupt the molecular bonds in the skin tissue and to help it disintegrate. The scar tissues are now gone and the vacated area is then replaced with newly formed skin cells and collagen.

Immediately following the treatment, the affected area will be red and tender. This is due to the fact that the layers of scarred skin have been removed so that new skin can develop in its place. However, most patients heal from the redness and tenderness in just a few days.

Benefits

Even if the word surgery might sound scary, this type of surgery poses no serious danger for the individual because this is a non-invasive surgical procedure. Aside from that, undergoing treatment is convenient even for busy people because procedures can last from ten minutes to an hour and the patient can easily go back to work after undergoing treatment.

Treatments and methods may vary on the individual and may depend on the severity of the scarring. The most recently formed stretch marks are easiest to treat and have a higher success rate. The older and more mature stretch marks are usually silver or white in color. These scars can be difficult to remove and may take more treatments but laser surgery can still reduce their appearance. In addition to that, the only pain you will experience as the light lasers do their work is a pinching sensation.

Risks

Some side effects would include bruising, scarring, blistering, or swelling of the treated area. These symptoms will normally disappear within a few days or weeks. Sometimes, changes in the pigmentation of the area can occur as well but then again, this is only temporary and your skin will return to its normal color after a while.

Make sure these procedures or treatments are administered by competent and qualified individuals as these can pose dangers if done incorrectly. Therefore, it would be in the individual’s best interest to obtain treatments from certified physicians.

IVF vs. Tubal Reversal - Factors to Consider in Making a Choice

July 14th, 2008 · No Comments

pregnancybyline’>by Sandra Wilson

If you had your tubes tied but have decided you want another child, your doctor will probably suggest doing the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process. But there is an. That alternative is a tubal reversal. Should you have one? Let’s check out IVF vs. tubal reversal to see what might be best for you.

First, you need to understand that a tubal reversal is a surgical procedure. The surgeon will access your fallopian tubes. Hopefully, you will have carefully checked out the available surgeons and chosen a very experienced one who does the procedure on an outpatient basis such as Dr. Berger of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. There is little you will need to do to get ready for the surgery other than having your surgeon review the tubal ligation operative report. It’s best to check with the surgeon you choose to understand just what preparation you do need, however minimal.

Now let’s look at IVF in comparison. There are a lot of drugs that you have to get in order to stimulate your body’s egg production and also to keep it from going into ovulation prematurely. You will need to go to your doctor daily for a few days to receive each shot at the right time. Most require a few visits to complete the course for the drug. This is just the preparation part.

Now your doctor gets to remove the eggs…or does he? Well, yes, but not before another injection just before ovulation. Your doctor will also be monitoring you to make sure he can catch the eggs before they being their journey to your uterus. He will use a needle to capture the eggs that your body has been overstimulated to produce. Seems like you are to be around a lot of needles.

Now, comes the part you have been taking all those shots for. You will have the fertilized eggs implanted into your body. This will happen after some time in the lab where the fertilization and the beginning development of the embryo takes place. You will most likely get more than one fertilized egg, which actually has begun developing into an embryo, placed back into your uterus. One possibility with the remaining embryos is to have them frozen for when this cycle does not give you the hoped for result of a pregnancy. You will get more injections at this point as well.

Your chances of success will depend upon many things. Did the doctor do a careful and carefully placed implantation meaning is he experienced enough? However, all the eggs that were not implanted can be frozen for a future implantation…if you want to go through all the shots and what they do to you again. There will be added risks to you and your child by using IVF. You will want to do some research online to make sure you are aware of these.

Add to all of the above the success rates of each individual course of treatments. Depending upon where you look it is from a 10 - 30% chance you will get pregnant. Higher percentages for more embryos being implanted.

Now compare all that and all the things left out of this article due to space limitations and you will see that having a tubal reversal could be a much better option. The success rates for tubal reversal can vary depending upon your chosen surgeon. This makes choosing the best tubal reversal doctor and center a matter of utmost importance. At the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center where they publish their specific pregnancy rates after a tubal reversal, you will see that it is an overall 69%. Your potential success rate will depend upon several things including your age, tube length left and type of ligation procedure used. The good news is that once the surgery is done, you get to try over and over again to “make a baby” without having to pay any more money.

So let’s look at the cost of IVF vs. tubal reversal. One course of IVF treatments will average $10,000 to $12,000 with some going as high as $20,000. That’s just one cycle. On average, doctors will tell you to expect to go through at least three cycles. On the other hand, the average cost of a tubal reversal is $8,000 to $9,000 and you will find that, too, can go up to $20,000 or higher. Don’t pick one of those later surgeons costing that much. You can see that it usually is much cheaper to go with tubal reversal rather than IVF
